Shaving the way for cancer

Students and staff at Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School are today shaving their heads and waxing their bodies to raise money for the World’s Greatest Shave.

An impressive $280,000 has been raised by Farrer senior boys over the past 12 years for the Leukaemia Foundation to help find a cure, provide vital research, and improve the quality of life for people and families facing the challenges of blood cancers.

This year's boys will be following last year's trend of shaving creative eye-catching hair styles with an addition of beard and head shave combos, full body waxes and duo leg shaves.

Every day, 47 Australians are diagnosed with a form of blood cancer, which is one Aussie every 31 minutes and the World's Greatest Shave is a fun way to raise greater awareness of the serious disorder that affects so many people.

In addition, the community is invited to get involved throughout March by entering in their online auction to win generously donated prizes including accommodations, hampers, fishing packs and more via

Or you can donate to the boys’ fundraising efforts:

All proceeds go to the Leukaemia Foundation.
