Lights on for Armidale sportsfield

Updated: Jul 1, 2020

Armidale’s Harris Park Sportsfield is getting a high tech upgrade with mobile phone controlled lights being installed over the coming months.

Geotechnical testing has been carried out to determine how to erect the 25 to 30-meter high steel poles which will provide L-E-D lighting similar to what is installed at Wimbledon Centre Court in London.

The 3 hundred and 50 thousand dollar project to light up the sports field is now underway and groundworks to install the poles will begin next month.

Harris Park Sportsfield will remain open during the works and local clubs are looking forward to getting back on the field as COVID-19 restrictions lift.

The funding was awarded as part of the scandal-plagued Community Sports Infrastructure Program grants.
