It's been a tough few months for our local volunteer firefighters who are still battling multiple blazes in the region.

The Pearson trail fire is currently being controlled but is burning in the Dungowan Catchment area in difficult steep terrain.

The fire has reached some properties along the Dungowan Dam Road and Nowendoc Road.

It is progressing to properties along Barry Road and Morrison’s Gap Road.

The blaze still remains at advice level, but landowners should stay vigilant and keep up to date with any alerts.

Annie Lewis caught up with Tamworth RFS Superintendent Allyn Purkiss to chat about the latest information and the upcoming fire season.
