Out of respect to those who have been impacted by the devastating bushfires, organisers of the Tamworth Country Music Festival cancelled the fireworks display for the event.

The announcement was posted to the event's official social media page on Thursday.

"Out of respect to Australians affected by bushfires over the past months, we will not be having fireworks at this year's festival," the statement read.

"Funds will be reinvested into more family-friendly activities including the new Festival Fringe running every night at the bottom of Fitzroy Plaza, and we will continue to support the funding of drought and fire-related charities and events.

IN OTHER NEWS:

"We take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the NSW RFS alongside other agencies for their hard work to keep us all safe."

The post also reminded visitors that though the Tamworth region is largely unaffected by bushfires, people should consult the Live Traffic and Fires Near Me apps for the most up-to-date information.
