In yet another sign of how unrelenting the drought it – the Wallabadah New Year Race has been cancelled.
This is yet another victim of the drought – with the event being cancelled due to the track being in poor condition and is a safety issue for the horses and the jockeys.
It is only the second time since 1852 that the event has been cancelled, with the last time being in 2007 – ironically due to a wet track from heavy rain prior to the race.
The Wallabadah Jockey Club is the oldest country racing club in club in Australia.
