Two men charged after aggravated break and enter

After a Tamworth business had its windows smashed in and items stolen, police arrested five people with one officer injured during a brief struggle.

About 10.55pm on Monday, five males entered a store on Peel Street, Tamworth after allegedly smashing the front door with a baseball bat and leaving with items of value.


Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended a short time later and searched the nearby park.

Officers arrested a 16-year-old boy after a brief struggle where an officer suffered a facial laceration.


A short time later, a 14-year-old boy was arrested on Carthage Street, and a 18,19 and 13-year-old were arrested in Hill Street, Tamworth.

All items that were allegedly stolen from the store were recovered. All five males were taken to Tamworth Police Station, where the two men were charged with aggravated break and enter and steal in company.

The 18-year-old man was given conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on March 31.


The 19-year-old man was given conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on June 15.
