Two car-collision closes Kamilaroi Highway
One person has been taken to Tamworth Hospital after a crash involving two cars took place on the Kamilaroi Highway earlier today.
The highway was closed after one of the vehicles burst into flames.
Emergency services responded to reports of a two-car crash, near the Namoi River, just before 10.30am. Ambulance NSW confirmed paramedics were deployed to assess both drivers, with one of the drivers managing to escape the vehicle moments before it caught fire.
A teenage girl was taken to Tamworth Hospital for further medical treatment on a leg injury. The second driver was assessed at the scene for minor injuries.
The crash has closed the road, about 10km out of Boggabri. Live Traffic NSW said there was no estimate on when the highway would reopen but asked motorists to allow extra travel time.
