Youth Week goes online, but plenty of ways to get involved

Youth Week is set to look a little different in 2020 with Tamworth Regional Council encouraging those aged between 12 and 24 in the region to head online to get involved.

The theme for this year is “speak up, be involved, get connected, have fun” and with the uncertain times, this theme couldn’t be better suited.

Katey Allwell, TRC youth services team leader, said Youth Week is normally about bringing together the youth in our region, sharing memorable experiences, connecting them with specific youth services and having fun.

“While being together physically isn’t an option this year we knew it was important to provide an opportunity for our youth to connect, share, learn and have fun," he said.

"Youth Week is an opportunity for young people to express their ideas and views, act on issues that affect their lives, and create and enjoy activities and events."

Activities include:

  • the Youth Week Short Stories compilation,

  • the Youth Week Photo Competition,

  • connecting with other youth and experts with the ‘Ask me Anything with the Experts” Facebook sessions and

  • the Youthie Online Movie Night.

2020 Youth Week will run from now to April 9. For more information of Youth Week 2020 in the Tamworth region visit www.tamworth.nsw.gov.au/youthweek.
