Woman who died in Tamworth Hospital tested positive for COVID-19


In tragic news for the region, a 58-year-old woman who died in Tamworth Hospital tested positive for COVID-19.


UPDATE:

NSW Health announced in a statement that a 58-year-old woman who suffered a range of co-morbidities died in Tamworth hospital on April 16.

A test, available on April 17 showed she was positive for COVID-19.

EARLIER: The news was announced during Health Minister Brad Hazzard, NSW Health’s Dr Jeremy McAnulty and NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Karen Webb providing an update on COVID-19 on Saturday morning. Mr Hazzard told media in the 24-hour period to 8pm last night, the number of cases in the state has continued to slow with just 10 new cases. There are 2,936 cases in NSW. Mr Hazzard says there have been two deaths overnight, an 83-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman. “I think on behalf of the entire NSW community, I want to express my sympathy, and the community’s sympathy, to the families of those two people,” Hazzard said.
