Two accidents in one morning, as drivers are urged to slow down in rainy weather

Drivers are being urged to slow down and take caution in wet weather after two car accidents in one morning.

A two-vehicle accident at 10 am near the intersection of Church Street and Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth had traffic backed up on both sides of the road.

Police, Ambulance and Fire trucks attended the scene and a large white SUV was towed away after the front section of the car was smashed up.

An elderly man was treated by paramedics at the scene, however, refused transport and was said to have only minor injuries according to NSW Ambulance Service.

South Tamworth Fire station 448 attended the scene and cleared up an oil spill on the road.

A spokesperson from the 448 fire crew urged drivers to take extra caution in the wet and rainy weather, saying visibility can be challenging and road surfaces slippery.
