Tamworth COVID-19 case count reaches 14

Tamworth has a new case of coronavirus record with the city's count reaching 14 in the latest update from health officials. It is the first case in the city since a 58-year-old woman died in Tamworth Hospital, where it was later identified she had COVID-19. Health authorities are still attempting to trace how she contracted the infection, as well as source the transmission for at least one case in Armidale. NSW Health has not revealed the age of the new patient, or whether they are recovering at home or in hospital. These unknown sources of infections are the reason why Hunter New England Health is introducing two pop-up testing clinics for Tamworth and Armidale. As of 8pm on Saturday, HNE Health recorded 280 cases of COVID-19 with 218 recovered.
