Q&A: What you can and can't do from May 15 in NSW


As the number of new cases of coronavirus cases discovered NSW slows, the state government is moving to ease some restrictions on businesses and residents. All of the new rules will apply to the Tamworth region, so what can and can't you do? Police will still be penalising those who don't do the right thing, so make sure you know the rules. Question: How many people can visit my home? Answer: Five. Remember to maintain physical distancing. Question: Do the five visitors include children? Answer: Yes, it is five visitors in total, including children. Question: Can I have 10 people visit my home if we are outside? Answer: No. An outdoor gathering means a gathering in a park or public place. Question: Is there a limit to how many visitors I have in a day? Answer: There is no daily limit so long as you don't have more than five visitors at one time. However, if you are over 70 or have a pre-existing medical condition, you should limit the number of visitors. Question: Do the visitors need to be from the same household? Answer: No. Question: Can I train outdoors with up to 10 people? Answer: Yes, but 10 people includes the trainer and trainees. Remember to maintain physical distancing. Question: Can I have a picnic? Answer: Yes, so long as it is with up to 10 people in total, including children. Question? What are the rules for cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs? Answer: They can have up to 10 patrons seated at any one time and can continue to provide take away at the same time. They must also continue to apply the 4sqm rules and patrons must exercise 1.5m in social distancing. Question: Can we use outdoor equipment? Answer: You can use outdoor exercise and playground equipment, but do so with caution. Make sure to wash your hands before and after. Question: Can we go to outdoor pools? Answer: Outdoor pools can operate but can have no more than 10 people at a time and no more than one person per lane. Change areas will also remain closed. Question: Will there be police enforcement for people/businesses who do not follow the rules? Answer: Yes. NSW Police will continue to enforce public health orders. Question: Is local and regional travel allowed for holidays and recreation in NSW? Answer: No. Question: Can I visit family in regional NSW? Answer: Yes, as long as you are staying with someone, there is no limit on the distance you can travel to visit someone. Please keep in mind you have to abide by visit numbers, and social distancing and the travel can NOT be for holiday purposes. Question: How many people can I have at my wedding? Answer: Weddings can have up to 10 guests plus the celebrant and couple, so 13 maximum in total. Question: How many people can attend a funeral? Answer: Indoor funerals can have up to 20 mourners and outdoor funerals up to 30. Question: When will the next round of restrictions be eased? Answer: The NSW Government has not placed a date on the next round of changes. Question: When should I stay at home? Answer: You should not leave your home if you have even the mildest symptoms such as tiredness, runny nose or a sore throat. Question: Can I visit people over 70? Answer: Extra care should be taken when visiting, so maintain a physical distance of more than 1.5 metres wherever possible and consider using the available outdoor areas. Stay away if you have the mildest symptoms. Question: How many people can attend a place of worship? Answer: Religious gatherings and places of worship can have up to 10 people.
