Optus and 2TM team up to celebrate Country Music

Tamworth’s only commercial radio stations have today announced a partnership with Optus that will see the Telecommunications giant sponsor 2TM and 92.9’s celebration Australian Country Music in place of what would have been the 49th Tamworth Country Music Festival.

2TM has long been associated with the Festival and with the cancellation of the 2021 festival due to COVID, the station decided to continue its celebration of Australian Country Music, by exclusively playing Australian Country Music for the ten days that would have been the Festival.

As we would normally always do, 2TM will also conduct artist interviews, both in station and over the phone for those artists who are unable to make it to Tamworth.

2TM / 92.9 General Manager Nikki Kenwrick said “we are extremely proud that we can still celebrate Australian Country Music with our listeners as usual and in a prolific way over the ten days of what would have been the 49th Festival. It is extremely important to the stations heritage that 2TM continues to do what we have always done for Australian Country Music and it’s Artists."

“With some of the biggest names in the Country Music chatting to us over the ten days, we will be keeping our audiences entertained with interviews and live performances both on air, and through our social media platforms.“

2TM will broadcast live from the TRECC, the 49th Golden Guitar Awards, also providing a social media feed as the winners are announced.

Sister station 92.9FM will be holding it’s own separate celebration of music called ‘Requestival’. Starting on 22nd January 2021, our listeners will get the chance to win a Samsung phone from OPTUS Tamworth, just by requesting a song. Requestival will run for 5 days, giving listeners five chances to win a fabulous phone.

The Optus coverage of 2021 Australian Country Music celebrations take place from Monday 18th January 2021
