Man Charged After Holding Up Werris Creek Service Station on Saturday Night


Police have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery in Werris Creek over the weekend.


Just after 7:35pm on Saturday, a man allegedly armed with a large knife walked into the service station on Single Street in Werris Creek and demanded money before fleeing the store on foot.


No injuries were reported during the incident.


Following inquiries, police executed a warrant at a house on Henry Street, Werris Creek, about 2pm yesterday , where they discovered a man hiding in the boot of a Holden Commodore at the back of the property.


A 24-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon, larceny and destroy or damage property.


He was refused bail to appear in Tamworth Local Court today (Wednesday 27 March 2019).
