Hydro set-up uncovered, 21 mature cannabis plants seized

A man has been charged after police discovered a hydroponic cannabis set-up near Gunnedah.


Just after 9.30am on Tuesday, officers from Oxley Police District executed a search warrant at a property at Carroll.


Police found the hydroponic set-up within the home and seized 21 mature cannabis plants, leaf and a firearm component.


A 41-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Gunnedah Police Station, while a five-year-old child living at the home was placed into the care of a family member.


A child-at-risk notification has been made.


The man has been charged with possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, enhanced indoor cultivate prohibited plant-expose child, and acquire firearm part without authority.


The man appeared at Gunnedah Local Court on Tuesday and was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on March 3.
