Semi-automatic rifles, a crossbow and explosive devices were seized at a property in the state’s Northern Tablelands.
About 12.20pm on Friday, officers from the New England Target Action Group and New England Criminal Investigation executed a search warrant at a property on Railway Street, Glencoe.
During the search, police seized a number of items, including two semi-automatic rifles, a crossbow with arrows, silencers, ammunition, an explosive and detonators, slingshots and cannabis leaf.
A 38-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Armidale Police Station, where he was charged with a number of offences, including:
Possess/use prohibited weapon without permit
Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm
Possess unregistered prohibited firearm
Not keep safe (prohibited weapon)
Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit
Possess explosive for unlawful purpose
Handle explosive without authorising licence
Possess prohibited drug
He was refused bail and was due to appear in Armidale Local Court on Saturday.
