Gang of 5 allegedly assault 3 people in South Tamworth home invasion


A group of 5 men allegedly forced entry into a South Tamworth home confronting residents and leaving one man in hospital.


Around 5:15 am on Saturday 9th January the gang of allegedly forced their way into a Jill Street residence in South Tamworth before confronting the occupants.


A 25-year-old man confronted the group and was allegedly assaulted before fleeing the house with his four-year-old child.


The gang allegedly assaulted a further two people before fleeing and Oxley Police District was alerted to the situation.


Police arrived at the South Tamworth home and established a crime scene however the 5 men had already left the area.


The 25-year-old man was treated for minor injuries at Tamworth Hospital and has since been released.


Police said they believe the group is known to the 25-year-old man and it was not a random attack.


A spokesperson from Tamworth police said the investigation continuing and they need all the information the local community can provide.
