FEB 28 - MAR 1 | Top Ten Things to Do in Tamworth

Live at 8am on Saturday mornings we count down the Top Ten Things to Do in Tamworth! From show-jumping, to the final day of trading for the Albert, there's a lot to enjoy in our region.


10. Bird Watching Field Trip

Saturday 28th February, 8pm - 10pm

Capitol Theatre, 1, Peel St, Tamworth NSW 2340, Australia


Join the Tamworth Birdwatchers on a field trip to DUMARESQ DAM. This is a bushland area where you can see waterbirds including the musk lorikeet, striped honeyeater, crested shrike-tit, musk duck, little eagle.


We leave from behind the community Centre in Darling Street at 8am.

9. 2020 Show Jumping Championships

Saturday 28th February - 1st March , 8am - 4pm

8. OzPeel Clean Up Australia Day

Saturday 28th February, 8pm - 10pm

Jewry Street Park


Come and join the North West OzFish Chapter clean up our local waterways this Clean Up Australia Day 2020 to improve the health of our beloved river and fish habitat.

We're asking the local community to come down and volunteer on Sunday 1 March 2020.


Join your community and help reduce the amount of waste in our beautiful river.

Volunteers are asked to bring sun protection, sturdy footwear, gloves, and plenty of water. Community members of all ages are encouraged to join us in a family-friendly atmosphere that gives back to our fishing future.


We'll be providing a free BBQ breakfast provided for all volunteers plus we'll be undertaking some habitat improvements such as tree planting and maintenance as well as rubbish removal.




7. It all starts at the Con - an evening of fine music

Saturday 28th February, 8pm - 10pm

Capitol Theatre, Peel St, Tamworth NSW 2340, Australia


Join Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music for an evening of fine entertainment presented by the Conservatorium’s talented staff and their friends. Many of the performers have achieved national success in their chosen areas of performance.

The program will include solo and ensemble performances and cover a wide range of musical genres from classical to jazz.


‘It all starts at the Con’ and the 2020 concert is sure to be an evening of fine music and fun.




6. Retro Sundays at Forum 6

Sunday 1st March, 2:30pm - 4:30pm

Forum 6 Cinemas, Centrepoint Tamworth


On the first Sunday of the month for the rest of this year we will be showing some of the greatest movies from the past 45 years. Come along and see these fantastic films the way which they were meant to be seen... on the big screen!

5. Rural Museum Demonstration Day

Happening this Sunday March 1 is the Rural Museum Demonstration Day hosted by Weeks of Speed Gunnedah.


Includes tractors, cars old & new, stationary engine and vintage machinery. Whip cracking demonstrations. Museum is open to view exhibits & collections. Bring the whole family!




4. King of the Ranges - Murrurundi

Saturday 29th February, from 8am

Rosedale Equine Complex, 4 Rosella St, Murrurundi


The Upper Hunter's Premium Equine event where horsemen, women, and juniors show off their talent and skills in 6 preliminary events in the hope to reach the finals of Obstacle Course, Stock saddle buckjump and Wild Horse Catch.


Along with the challenge, there are many other events during the weekend. Junior Whipcrack, goat races, rough stock rides, demonstrations, market stalls, and Bush Poetry.




3. Escape Rooms Tamworth

Saturday 29th February - Sunday 1st March, all day

Escape Rooms Tamworth, 13 Brisbane St, Tamworth NSW 2340


Escape Rooms are the latest worldwide craze in gaming. It is a live game where you and your team are taken to a themed room and immersed into a movie like scenario.

You must solve the clues, puzzles and riddles within 60 minutes to complete the challenge.

2. The Great Race - SPEEDWAY

Saturday 29th February, 5pm - 10pm

Oakburn Park motorsports complex, 1428 Oxley Hwy, Wallamore


This weekend, Saturday 29th of February is the Great Race for the Charlie McGarva Memorial. With 50 Lap Race Final Street Stockers, fender benders, fast fours, junior sedans, speedway karts, junior formula 500s and Formula 500s "The Oakburn Challenge".


Adults $20, Pensioners $15, Children (12-16) $15, Under 12 Free with Adult

Family Pass: $50 (2 adults, 2 children)




1. The ALBERT HOTEL - Last day of trading

Saturday 29th February, 9pm - late

The Albert Hotel, Peel Street, Tamworth


Come along and celebrate the last night of the Albert Hotel, which is closing its doors for good this Saturday February 29.


There'll be drink specials, and free live music from 9pm until late. Don't miss out on reliving some of the best memories and live music played in this very establishment.
