Formal intention to list Armidale Courthouse on the States Heritage Register has been announced on Monday 20th July.
The courthouse building and sheriff’s cottage are among the oldest surviving public buildings in the New England region dating back to 1859.
The Heritage Council is calling for the public to make further written submissions before their final ruling.
Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall said transferring the courthouse to Armidale Regional Council to be reopened as a community facility would play a major role in reinvigorating the CBD.
Submissions should be posted or emailed to the Heritage Council of NSW at the following address until 9 August 2020:
