Armed Robber Stabs Tamworth Man Twice in the Neck


Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in the neck during an attempted armed robbery in Tamworth yesterday.


At about 2pm yesterday a man entered a Tamworth home and threatened the male occupant with a knife, demanding money.


A scuffle ensued during which the male occupant was stabbed twice in the neck.


The injured man was taken to the Tamworth Hospital in a stable condition.


Police believe the man left the scene in a 2000 model red Mazda 626 sedan.


The man has been described as of medium build, Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander in appearance, with medium-length dark hair, a moustache and goatee, wearing a white jumper.


Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage of the red Mazda sedan travelling throughout the city around the time is urged to contact Tamworth Police Station on 6768 2999 or Crime Stoppers.


Investigations continue.
