A Man Will Face Court Today After Allegedly Sexually Assaulting a 13-year-old Tamworth Girl


Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation in February, following reports a 13-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by a man not known to her last year.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 33-year-old man at Newcastle Police Station last Thursday.

The man was charged with aggravated sexual assault and sexual intercourse with child under 14 years.

Police will allege in court that the man met the girl at a park in Tamworth on Wednesday 5th of September in 2018, before inviting her to a guest house where he sexually assaulted her.

The man was remanded in custody on unrelated charges and is due to appear before Newcastle Local Court today.

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
