1. Girls Day Out at Tamworth Races

Ladies, it’s time to frock up for a special Girls Day Out at the Tamworth Races!


Whether you want a day out…or a day off, it’s free entry for the ladies and kids with an incredible two course luncheon and high tea dessert.


There’ll be giveaways and special treats for the ladies as well.

2. ALMOST SOLD OUT: Kitty Flanagan!

Saturday June 8 // Capitol Theatre // 5pm


In Tamworth this weekend for not just one but two almost sold out shows is Aussie comedian Kitty Flanagan.


She has performed all over the country and overseas in comedy festivals and shows alike, also appearing on some of your favourite TV shows, The Project and Have You Been Paying Attention.


She returns to Tamworth with her show Smashing covering everything from algorithms to footy players and harbour porpoises! Everything is getting "smashed".


Make sure you leave the kids at home unless you want them getting a Kitty Flanagan style education!

3. NCHA Cutting Futurity

May 29 until June 9 // AELEC Tamworth

Don’t miss out on one of the biggest and richest indoor sporting horse events in the Southern Hemisphere, the NCHA Cutting Futurity until June 9.


There’s heaps of events to check out including all the finals as we get closer to the end of the week of the 2019’s event in Tamworth.


Cutting has been around for over 100 years but was only introduced to Australia in 1967, making its way to the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 1968 as a main arena attraction.


Horsemen and women from all over Australia were immediately engaged by the skill and ability required by both horse and rider for “Cutting”.


In a cutting contest, horse and rider have two and a half minutes to work two or three beasts and keep them from returning to the herd.


The Annual NCHA Cutting Futurity attracts more than 500 competitors and pays out over $700,000 in cash and prizes over the duration of the event.


Check it out at the home of the NHCA, the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre.


4. Manilla Vintage Machinery Display

Saturday June 8 and Sunday June 9 // Manilla Showgrounds // 9am – 5pm


It’s the 30th annual rally celebrating all things vintage machinery in Manilla this weekend.

So why not check out the Manilla Vintage Machinery display and rally at the Manilla showgrounds this weekend.


There’ll be some vintage garden equipment, lawn mowers, rotary hoes, chainsaws and more!


But if that doesn’t impress you, there’ll be an incredible line-up of old tractors, trucks and stationary engines as well.


Believe it or not, this rally attracts enthusiasts from all over NSW.


Get curious and head on down to the Manilla vintage machinery display and rally 9-5pm this long weekend.


5. Optus Community Coverage Party

Saturday June 8 // Fitzroy Street Plaza // 11am – 5pm // Free


Optus has an incredible day planned for the community and it’s all to celebrate the launch of six new mobile sites servicing the greater Tamworth area.


The Fitzroy Street Plaza will transform into a haven of fun and entertainment perfect for the family with free rides including bungee trampolines, jumping castle with a petting zoo, face painting and more!


Grab a sausage sandwich to support “Buy a Bale” and our drought-affected farmers as well.


Score yourself a giveaway, including one of the Optus Coverage showbags for the first 500 in attendance.


So get the kids and head down from 11am – 5pm at the Fitzroy Street Plaza.


6. Tamworth Eisteddfod

Saturday June 8 // Tamworth Town Hall // 9am, 1:30pm and 6pm // $7.50pp


A lot of hard work goes into the Tamworth Eisteddfod—with dancers, musicians and performers from all over the North West coming together to perform at the Tamworth Town Hall.


There are three sessions daily on Saturday and Sunday 9am, 1.30pm and 6pm, with the troupes performing both nights at the 6pm session.


Championships for solo dancers is on Monday from 9 am.


Be moved by the strength, creativity and passion and come along to see some of the most talented performers and dance studios in this region at the Town Hall.

7. Mallawa Picnic Races

Saturday June 8 // Mallawa Race Course Moree // 12pm


The Mallawa Amateur Picnic Race Club is holding its annual race meeting again on the June long weekend, a perfect way to get the long weekend started!


Why not head out and enjoy a great day of country racing, and enjoy the middle leg of the golden triangle.


Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy with family and friends, with the racing starting at 1pm.

After the race, stay and enjoy the new bar facilities and live entertainment until 10pm.

And if you’re worried the kids might get bored—Rose Sparkle events will be onsite with facepainting for the kids! ATM facilities will be available on the day.


8. Adopt a furry friend

Saturday June 8 // Centrepoint Shopping Centre // 10 - 2pm


The Pound Rescue group are setting up shop this Saturday June 8 so you can adopt a pet who needs a new home!


There’s an alarming number of animals bought before even considering the option of adopting a pet that deserves a loving family.


Make your way to Centrepoint, grab your coffee and get some shopping done and consider giving one of these pets a forever home.

9. Come and Try Go Karting!

Sunday June 9 // Oakburn Park // 11am // $30


If you have never ever tried out go karting before, then head to Oakburn Park for their “Come and Try Day” from 11am.


If you love a bit of speed and competitiveness then this is the perfect Sunday activity for you!
